A must have that I believe every pantry needs: almond four. This recipe is great because it has all the benefits of almond flour, plus you can cook it in 5 minutes in the microwave! Almond flour is made from blanched ground almonds with the skin off. It is light in color finer than almond meal or ground almonds. Here’s why I love almond flour so much:
Benefits of Almond Flour:
When making your mug cake, mix your wet ingredients together first.
It’s rich in monounsaturated fat (good fat).
It’s rich in Vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant and helps your brain.
It’s higher in protein, fat, and fiber than other flours.
It’s wheat-free and gluten-free, so it can be a good choice for people with certain allergies or sensitivities.
It can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
It can be used in most baking and cooking to replace more traditional flour.
For this recipe, you won’t need to wait for your oven to preheat, and you won’t need to clean your air fryer. Everything can be done in your microwave! Simply mix your ingredients together in a mug, and microwave for 5 minutes. You’ll have a delicious cake when the microwave beeps!
Substitutions:
If you can’t find almond flour, you can substitute it with almond meal or ground almond. But, this is more coarse than almond flour so the results won’t end up the same.
If you want to use regular flour, use regular all-purpose flour. Use 1/4 cup flour (not 1/3 like the recipe card says for almond flour) and increase the baking powder to 1 teaspoon (not 1/2 teaspoon like the recipe card says).
You can use a flax egg to replace the egg in the recipe.
